What we're about
Most people in the United States these days have a huge disconnect from the natural environment. From my perspective this lack of connection is one of the main reasons for illnesses, both mental/emotional and physical, in the world today. I enjoy teaching outdoor skills and I consider all of them to be pathways towards a more intimate relationship with the natural environment and with oneself. This group is for all ages, races, religions, and conditions of people. Anybody can participate as much or as little as they like, and can enjoy the camaraderie of being with other nature lovers or may simply observe the happenings.
Would you like to learn how to make fire without modern technology? Would you like to know which plants are edible and which plants can be used medicinally? Join me, naturalist/aboriginal skills instructor Jim Robertson, for outdoors instruction on how to build shelter, make soap, weave containers, and more, all from natural materials. I have been leading hikes and teaching aboriginal/wilderness skills in the Santa Monica mountains for over fifteen years.
