Access Silicon Valley Founder, Roger Rappoport, will moderate this interactive discussion with three industry experts: 

Jasmine Bina, founder of Concept Bureau, will explain how to use brand storytelling as a competitive advantage, and how powerful stories can effectively change the hearts, minds and behaviors of your audience. Using frameworks and insights relating to the American millennial, she'll unpack beliefs and triggers that companies domestically and around the world can use to tap into the psyche of this U.S. consumer. Learn how the right story can help you gain ground and provide defensible positioning in an ever-changing landscape. 

Topics to be discussed will include:

• What good brand strategy accomplishes

• Avoid confusing tactics for strategy

• Millennials in America

• Mental and emotional triggers for the millennial mindset

• Using fragmented subcultures and regional differences to your advantage

• Features vs. benefits, and the value of experience

• Defensible positioning (for owning your territory, de-risking in the face of delays/ churn/ media crises/ etc.)

Mike Riviello, of Redfish Taleswill then continue the discussion, diving into how to enhance your company's vision and message for the fundraising process. Mike is a serial entrepreneur, grew up in Silicon Valley and has a deep network with the movers and shakers in the venture world in the Valley. Mike will give an overview of the “Venture Games: How to Attract Venture Capital Through Storytelling.”

• How to convey passion to investors

• Creating a "global" vision that resonates with investors

• Developing the "hook" that will grab investor attention, and

• Understanding how VC's view your opportunity

Jasmine is the Founder and CEO of Concept Bureau, a brand strategy agency with roots in the storytelling world of PR. She has spent the last decade working with U.S. and international companies from a variety of industries, with a special focus on B2C brands reaching millennial consumers, and translating foreign brands for a US market.

Her work with growth stage startups to established names ties brand identity into the fabric of a business - from product development to marketing and sales - to create defensible market positioning in dynamic environments. Entrenched in the VC world, Jasmine knows what it takes to make foreign companies appeal to the US market and investors. She received her BA in literature from UC Berkeley and holds an MBA from NYU.


Mike is an experienced banker, entrepreneur and venture capitalist. For more than 15 years, he has been helping technology start-ups develop and present their stories to investors, partners and customers. Mike is a founding member of the team that produced The Red Herring, the industry standard for technology investment analysis during the dot com boom, and the founder of an ecommerce company that sold for a 3x-return.  As former MD at Redfish Ventures, he understands the pain on both sides of the fundraising table.

Mike earned an undergraduate degree in finance from Boston College and a graduate degree in business and architecture from Columbia University.


Duncan has an extensive background in founding and funding companies. Most notably he started and sold Covad Communications for a $9 Billion market cap. He served as SVP of Business Development at InterTrust and led their IPO in 1999. Duncan spent four years as managing director at Vantage Point Partners where he focused on digital media and telecom including Widevine (acquired by Google) and Livescribe. Prior to Bullpen, he co-founded Xumii which later sold to Myriad Group.

At Bullpen, Duncan focuses on mobile and consumer Internet investments, AI and the digitization of traditional industry sectors such as advertising, media and banking. He received a Sc.B. in physics/math from Brown University and J.D. Magna Cum Laude from Michigan Law School.
