    This class meets in Suite 206 - Coworking / Please arrive on time! Coffee, tea, and donuts will be served. This class is designed for new and soon-to-be members at AMT. It is all the information you need to get the most out of your membership and learn how you will make a difference in your community. We start with a quick walking tour of the space then go over how AMT works. Topics include: ~ How to become a member ~ How to get into a class / get a class on the calendar ~ How queueing or tool reservations work ~ How to find information on tools ~ How the social contract works and why you should care ~ How to manage your bigger projects and storage ~ How to access AMT systems and platforms ~ How to get and stay certified ~ How to report out on tools and get help ~ How your membership privileges work This class gives priority to dues-paying members of Ace Monster Toys.

    This 25 min. tour will give you and overview of the space and tools, a good idea on how the community and organization work, and the information you need join. PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME! ******************************************************************** AMT is a makerspace/hackerspace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackerspace) dedicated to education, hacking, and maker culture. We look to provide opportunities for people to learn new skills and to educate themselves in a hands-on, immersive manner. We also provide an equipped shop and workspace for our members to collaboratively work on projects. We already have a few classes/workshops, and hope to offer an even broader range as we develop. Thursday evenings are our general membership meetings, and weekly "open to the public" hours. See the membership in action and check out the space. Tours for public are given after the member meeting proper and folks are on hand for new member sign up. Come by and see what we are about, it's free to visit!     This meetup is in room 214 upstairs. Open to the public, Join us and work on your microcontroller, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi project or learn with other folks. This is an Open Lab for you to bring your hardware, meet fellow makers and talk about what you are working on and ask questions about how to get there from here. We supply AC power and workspace for you to work on whatever you bring and show off to others. We have multimeters, soldering irons and spare components for you to work on that fantastic project. We also have a limited selection of electronics hardware members can buy onsite. (Teensy, RPie, etc) Feel free to come and just hang out and see our awesome space (and consider becoming a member).

    Every second Tuesday of the Month. The summer location is the awesome patio at Prizefighter in Emeryville. Locations will switch around a bit as the weather changes etc. Check the Ace Monster Toys Facebook page for location... while the weather has been good we have been camping at Prizefighter. Are you a maker, hacker, artist, fabricator? Awesome! This night is for you. Come out for some social time with like-minded folks from all around the bay area. Please, no heavy sales or pitching. This is meant to be a good social occasion.

We will be using a combination of AMT materials and lessons from http://sewingschool.org/category/sewing101/ We will also be sewing a basic tote bag as part of yours hands-on practice.   • Workshop 101 Intensive

    This class is in room 214 downstairs. 6 tools in 6.5 hours... whoa. • Table Saw • Panel Saw • Band Saw • Drill Press • Jointer • Planer This core competency class covers the basic things you need to know about this equipment. We will cover the proper use, dust collection, safe use of the saws and shop protocols. The successful completion of the class counts as Certification. If you are not a dues-paying AMT member you will need to fill out the guest release of liability form: https://www.acemonstertoys.org/forms/ What to bring : Lunch! Hangry people don't learn well. Water provided. Some snacks available for purchase. A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes. What to wear : Closed toe shoes, short sleeves and work clothes. Long hair must be tied back. Safety Gear : Basic dust masks, eye protection, and ear protection will be provided. If you are fussy, bring your own. This class requires a minimum of 3 students to run. If the class is canceled we can offer a refund but otherwise do not.
