How to find us

In the Mountain Centre's Car Park

Location image of event venue

We will meet at the Brecon Beacons National Park Mountain Centre and if the weather is good for us we'll witness a timeless event, sunrise as the ancients would have seen it on the shortest day of the year.

It is believed that the stones that dot the landscape in the Brecon Beacons are aligned and mark an ancient spot which we'll visit in order to observe the sun rising, hidden, until it emerges from behind Pen y Fan's ridge to reveal itself in the bwlch formed with Corn Du and Pen y Fan.

We will then go for a walk across the common to visit an Iron Age fort before heading back to the Mountain Centre for a cuppa and a chat.

Bring your megalithic theories with you :)

Walking boots are advised. It can be cold even in good weather so warm layers and waterproofs are essential.

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

We will be leaving the mountain centre car park at 7.30am so please arrange to be there no later than 7.20am. If running late then do message Andy on[masked]

If this event is SOLD OUT do search the programme for future events with availability.

We charge for these walks in order to have a vibrant and exciting range of events available to group members. The charge ensures that the groups programme is sustainable.

Here's looking forward to another fine sunrise in the Brecon Beacons :)

This group is for those who would like to take part in walking and adventure activities and holidays at low cost.

We offer a range of walks of different lengths and difficulties so hope to cover most levels of ability/fitness.

The main aim of the group is to get people outdoors and walking and socialising with others who enjoy the same.

We encourage the development of interest in the hills and mountains of Wales. We facilitate our members to build their skills and to get out on their own or to look to us for guided adventures in the UK and abroad.

No liability or insurance is provided for these events. All participate at their own risk and as adults or parents decide whether the chosen event is for them. The level of participation in any event is always a personal choice. We recommend that you take out a personal activity insurance plan to protect any loss of income following an accident.

This group is also a social group, meeting up for tall tales and a few beers/food every now and again these social gatherings will be the starting point for this groups development.

Adventure Activity South Wales is actively seeking members and new walking leaders.
