Adventure Explorers is a group of outdoor enthusiasts with the mission of creating a community. As an organization, we try to identify people with common goals and match them up with other more experienced people who are willing and passionate about sharing their knowledge. We do this with the larger vision of strengthening the organization which we all benefit from. It is strongly encouraged that should you take part in our events that you try and give back as you are able. This is how we build the COMMUNITY.
Please remember, our organizers are not Professional Guides. You are responsible for your own safety and you must be prepared for the events that we host. That being said, most if not all of our events are planned and a clear list of prerequisites will be provided. There should be no unexpected surprises or challenges. Adventure Explorers offers a progression of courses to help you prepare to meet these challenges and achieve your goals. Many people join with us after learning skills elsewhere. Maybe you have moved from far away and have skills to offer the community we are trying to build.
All of our lead instructors have a minimum of training: CPR, WRFA, LNT, AIARE level 1, and have completed mountaineering courses from organizations such as Adventure Explorers, The Mountaineers, Boealps, or equivalent. All of our trip leads have >2 years of independent experience in their discipline. Several of our trip leads and instructors hold more advanced certifications (AMGA, LNT Trainer & Master Educator, AIARE level 2, W-EMT, American Red Cross Instructors). Some have worked in the Professional Guiding Industry. All of our instructors have mandatory yearly trainings.
We do sometimes enlist the services of Professional Guides. We do this for very important reasons: 1. We like to support the local guiding community. 2. Professional guides may be required by National Park restrictions (examples: Mt Rainier N.P., Mt Kilimanjaro) 3. We are exploring an activity in which our community lacks the experience to safely operate without a Professional Guide.
All participants must have a Waiver on file with Adventure Explorers. By signing up or RSVP-ing for an event, you attest that you have signed and delivered the Waiver to Adventure Explorers or you have it in hand to give to the Trip lead when you show up for the event. Regardless of the waiver mentioned above, by joining as a member of Adventure Explorers Meetup Group, or joining a Meetup event, you assume responsibility for yourself and your guests (who must also have a Waiver on file or in hand). While novices are most welcome, you should know your own limitations. Many of our events go in all weather conditions. Finally, you must also agree to the "Meetup terms of service and conditions" and be over the age of 18.
