Hike up via the Register Ridge Trail to Mt. Harwood and then on to Mt. Baldy and return via the Devils Backbone Trail
Distance: ~8 miles
Gain: ~4,300 feet
Time: ~8 hours
Need Adventure Pass to park at Manker Flats parking area which can be purchased at any Big 5 or REI stores.
Difficulty: Steep & Strenuous
Another picturesque trail to Mt. Harwood & Mt. Baldy. Steep, yet breathtaking. The Register Ridge Trail offers fantastic views on both sides of the Ridge.This well-traveled use trail splits off near the beginning of the Ski Hut Trail and runs straight up Register Ridge for ~1.6 miles before intersecting the Devil's Backbone trail just below Mt. Harwood. Continue straight up to Mt. Harwood. Then follow the trail down westward towards Mt. Badly until you reach the Backbone Trail and follow it up to Baldy Summit.
We will descend Via the Devils Backbone Trail to Baldy Notch. Here, you have an option to hike 3.6 miles down to Manker Flats parking lot or take the ski lift down (cost $12) and walk 1/4th of a mile to the Manker Flats parking lot.
PLEASE - Know your limits and abilities. Bring plenty of liquids and sunscreen when hiking. Check weather conditions and dress accordingly and be aware of your surroundings at all times. It can be windy at the Summit, so bring layers.
