Great, never did catch up with everyone but had a great time which included a free balloon ride!

I had a great time on a beautiful morning. Paul Goldberg and I stayed until they began to deflate the balloons. Sorry we didn't meet any of you others. It is now 10:05 and I'm going to take a nap to make up for my 4:45 AM alarm.

Hi Marty, If I'm asking an already asked question, please forgive. I will be meeting you there, is there a location for meeting or just call your cell? Thank you for all you do. Looking forward to seeing this and then returning to the shore for a nap on the beach!

Lorraine, We'll be meeting in Mahwah and car pooling to the event. That's probably not convenient for you so it's best to just meet at the event. The balloons will be concentrated in a relatively small area and the crowds won't be all that large. My cell phone is[masked] and we can connect with each other.

If I go I will spend the night somewhere closeby because the traffic was really bad last time I went. If I do this how can I find the meetup group that morning? Can I get a cell # to meet you at 6:30pm at the airport and an exact meeting location? It's quite large and I'll be alone.

Liz, I think I received an email from you, but I accidentally deleted it. I won't be able to go the day before, and ams till unsure if I can go at all. Thanks for emailing me, though.

Marty, I went to photograph this festival last year on my own and as a regular attendee I relegated to standing "behind" the fence with all the others attendees. Would this Meetup give as access to the other side of the fence, up close and personal to the balloons?

    February 19, 2014

    • Martin J.

Marc, YES!! We will be going on Friday morning when photographers and members of the press are allowed to attend. Access is up close and personal.

Curt, I suspect that most Meetup Groups don't bother with liability insurance and they may not even be aware of the risks that they're taking. However, I am aware and have too much to loose in the event that something unexpected happens.

I went to this last year for the first time. The weather wasn't very cooperative, but you get up-close-and-personal. Here is a link to some of the photos I took. Not great shots, but it gives you a sense of perspective. http://cschlenker.zenfolio.com/p363162136

What is the $15 fee for?

    February 19, 2014

    • Martin J.

Curt, 1. We pay a license fee to Meetup for the use of their software and on line distribution system. 2. We must carry liability insurance which costs a small fortune. 3. We do the research, coordination and management of the event so that all you have to worry about your photography. Marty

Thank you for the explanation. I was unaware of any insurance issues.

Maureen, You will be able to get to close that if you got any closer, you'd be inside. You're only restrictions will be common sense.

Martin what kind of access do we have with this shoot? I mean, where would we be standing?

    February 19, 2014

  • H. Denis M.

Martin, My guest and I will drive directly to the airport. We both live in Somerset Cty.
