• American Tobacco Trail in S. Durham: After-Lunch Walk
    If you're free after lunch, let's walk the ATT in Durham to get some exercise and enjoy the sunshine. This event will be great for those who just want to get outside and walk without the elevation gain of the mountains. We'll walk at a fairly moderate pace, though, in hopes of getting the heart rate up a little. A portion of our walk will include walking across the pedestrian bridge that spans I-40 near The Streets at Southpoint. We'll walk a distance of about 2.5-3 miles which will include an out and back walk to get back to our cars. I may be starting a few running events as well, in the future, for those who like running. I will send an email the night before the event to let you know where we're parking. Expect to park somewhere near the mall. TRIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER OF LIABILITY I fully realize that this activity involves a risk of personal injury, property damage, or loss of my person or property. I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, and same for persons with whom are in my party, waive and release any claims or rights against Triangle Hiking & Outdoors Group (THOG), all of its owners and coordinators for any and all injury, damages or loss to my person or property incurred during this activity. I also understand that THOG organizers are not required, nor should it be assumed that they are CPR/First Aid/Wilderness Survival Certified and I am responsible for my own personal safety.   • Falls Lake Trail Sections 1 & 2 - 12 MILES
    Join your THOG friends for the first in a series of hikes along the Falls Lake Trail, part of the NC Mountains-to-Sea Trail. This week we will hike sections 1 and 2 up and back from the Falls Dam to Possum Track Road in North Raleigh. Due to limited parking at the trailhead, we will meet and carpool to the trailhead and then hike Sections 1 and 2 up and back. The hike will be about 12 miles, so please plan on at least 4 hours. Fit hikers only as we will be hiking at a brisk pace with only a few quick breaks. Bring: 1 - 2 liters of water Snack Good hiking boots No dogs or children please. I will email all participants with a Yes RSVP 24 hours before the hike with the carpool location.
