ATT Ride

  • Apr 23, 2013 · 6:30 PM

American Tobacco Trail (ATT) Ride

Please read the following description. I'll only answer questions that are not covered in it.

We will be starting at one of the entrances near SouthPoint Mall in Durham. Final directions to the meeting place will be e-mailed to attendees on the day prior to the event.

For those unfamiliar with the trail:

This ride is on an easy trail, but does involve some distance. We will be riding from 6:30 to just after sunset.

The American Tobacco Trail is a rails to trails (quite flat) shady, wide recreational multi use trail. It is open to walkers, runners, bikers, and horses. Mountain bikes are recommended, but hybrids or road bikes can be used. The entire ride will be on good surfaces; either paved or screened granite. We'll be averaging about 12 mph.

Helmets are REQUIRED for this ride, and you'll want 1 liter of water or so.

We will gather for food after the ride, for those who are interested.

Any drop outs on less than 36 hrs notice will be considered "no show"

Looking forward to seeing you on the ride!

Once the sun stays up longer, we could do the whole trail but today was a good workout

Trail is easy going and we average around 10-12 mph which is not bad, basically you can ride at your own speed. The host sent the directions last night.

I'm going to join you for about 1/2 hour, then head back on my own for another commitment.
