Falls Lake/MST Sections 15 & 16 - 11 MILES

  • February 5 · 9:00 AM

Join your THOG friends for the next in a series of hikes along the Falls Lake Trail, a section of the NC Mountains-to-Sea Trail.  This week, we will hike sections 15 & 16 in northeast Durham.

Due to limited parking at the trailhead, we will meet and carpool to the trailhead and then hike Sections 15 and 16 up and back.

The hike will be about 10-11 miles, so please plan on at least 3.5 to 4 hours.  Fit hikers only as we will be hiking at a brisk pace with only a few quick breaks and we will likely need to cross streams without bridges.

This hike is a 3 by the THOG hiking scale - slight intermittent elevation gains, rocks, tree roots.

•  1 - 2 liters of water

• Snack

• Good hiking boots

• Rain gear

No dogs or children please.

I will email all participants with a Yes RSVP 24 hours before the hike with the carpool location.

It is snowing (with some ice) where I am. Is the hike still on for the same time. Concerned about driving early this morning.
