Let’s hike the Sal’s Branch Trail this week. It’s only about 2.8 miles long, so we can hike it twice if desired. This also gives us the option of bailing out after one lap should it start raining. We should be back at the parking lot in a about 2 hours, meaning an average pace of pace of about 3-3.5 miles per hour with short breaks for water and/or snacks. I plan to be wearing a weighted backpack, but it is fine if you proceed at a faster pace.
If it’s your first time hiking this trail, be aware that it’s rocky and rooty. I expect it to be muddy after Tuesday’s rain, so wear appropriate footwear. You might also want to bring rain gear just in case.
