  • (Local) Hike Occoneechee State Park
Join THOG in hiking the loop around Occoneechee Mountain that takes you over some minimal steep terrain. Side trips on the Brown Elfin Knob and Overlook trails and the summit road take you through mature oak forest and to nice scenic views. This will be a good way to start your Saturday morning. We will hike approximately 3.5 miles this morning. This will be a relatively slow to moderate paced hike at around 2 miles an hour. It's a good hike for beginners. Be sure to bring water to stay hydrated and snacks if you wish. It will be a bit chilly so bring a jacket. • Biking the greenways and Umstead
Missing Umstead and a good Saturday bike ride? Me too. Meet at 9:00am leaving at 9:15am. We will follow a new greenway into Umstead, do a loop in Umstead and back, about 21 miles distance. Bike needed: a hybrid or mountain bike, road bikes don't do well at Umstead. Bring water for yourself. Skill needed: an intermediate rider or at least in very good physical shape. There will be few hills that will get your heart going. . . Trail type: paved greenways and packed gravel in Umstead. Helmets are mandatory. Aprox. time needed it to accomplish: 3.0 hrs, it really depends on how fast is everyone and how many breaks we take. The event will be cancelled in case of rain. Customary, after the ride lets hang out for lunch. This time we will go at Neomonde Mediterranean, just up the road at 10235 Chapel Hill Rd #400, Morrisville, NC 27560 By RSVP’ing to this event, you are agreeing to the following: TRIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER OF LIABILITY I fully realize that this activity involves a risk of personal injury, property damage, or loss of my person or property. There is rain in the forecast, but there seems to be a lower chance in the morning. I would suggest bringing rain gear just in case. The hike will be about 11 miles, so bring water and snacks.
