1806 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR
New to Portland, or just curious about the city you live in? Want to wake up late and stick close to town? If so, come join me for a Portland History Hike!
Following a few pages from Laura O. Foster’s Portland Hill Walks book, we’ll explore one of Portland’s neighborhoods and learn about the history of our beloved city. For this hike, we’ll be exploring the Portland Heights neighborhood, will go through Marquam Nature Park, and ride the Tram from OHSU down to the Southwest Waterfront area before we head back to our starting place. Along the way I’ll be sharing facts about the area and pointing out interesting landmarks from Foster’s book.
This hike will be a cross between casual stroll and a fast-paced ramble. It will most likely be raining, so bring an umbrella, a rain coat, gloves, etc. Bring money for lunch as we may decide to get something to eat afterwards or down by the waterfront. Bring good shoes for mud! No cotton. If it’s cold and wet and you aren’t dressed appropriately, you may be turned away before we set off on our hike.
$2 for members and non-members. Distance – approx. 5 miles. Elevation gain: approx. 700 feet. Date: 12/11, 10:00am. Meet in front of the Cafe Yum near PSU (1806 SW 6th Ave). Leader: Krista Collins, [masked][masked] Photo courtesy of
