  • Just like our first meetup, we'd like to keep the group size pretty small (18 people max).

    We have a couple of topics of discussion in mind - and open to what people would like to do.  Here are a 13 discussion ideas to get started:

    1.) Watch 2013 SuperBowl Ads - discuss which ads you liked, which ads you didn't

    2.) Watch International Ads / Cannes Lion Award Winners - and see what other countries are doing well

    3.) Direct Mail - Talk about your favorite Direct Mail piece, and tell us what was affective about it.

    4.) Digital Advertising - what's new and what's hot out there for Marketers

    5.) Social Media Marketing - just like the above, what are brands doing in the Social Media space to build fan loyalty

    6.) Radio Ads - don't disregard it - it's theater of the mind, and still effective today.

    7.) Humor in Advertising - to what extent is it effective, and is it doing justice to the brand ?

    8.) Viral Video - what does it take for video to go viral  ?  We will view people's favorite YouTube videos.

    9.) Top Ad Agencies in Toronto - what does it take to work at a top shop ?

    10.) Advertising Awards - how important are they to our industry ?

    11.) Mad Men - Is our Advertising Industry really as 'sexy & glamorous' as people make it out to be.

    12.) You're new, and don't know if working in Advertising is for you - help. Ad students are welcome to bring portfolio in for critique.

    13.) Who was your worst client experience, and what did you learn from it.

    So let us know what you would like to discuss.

    We will have Wi-Fi and laptop-to-TV projection access in the boardroom. Refreshments will be served. Looking forward to meeting you all.

  • you can cancel at least 2 day(s) before the Meetup
