Bring your dog on this relatively easy but beautiful hike. We'll hike the scenic South Valley Park (south of Ken Caryl Valley, southwest of C470). We'll do about 3 miles with 500' of elevation gain, and the pace will be a little more moderate than usual. You don't have to bring a dog to join this hike. All dogs must be on a leash and you must pick up after your dog. We'll watch the sunset (6:40pm) during the hike—bring a headlamp.
This hike shouldn't last more than 90 minutes. After the hike, those interested will go to the South China Restaurant at NW corner of Ken Caryl/Simms for dinner/drinks. Of course, your dog must stay in the car while we dine.
Please note the details about bringing appropriate gear and in case of bad weather in this Meetup Group's Welcome description. In particular, be sure to bring a headlamp and rain gear. If you join this hike, you are agreeing to this waiver .
We're meeting at the south entrance of South Valley Park on Deer Creek Canyon Road. Please note-- this park also has a north entrance on S. Valley Road--we are not meeting there! Click here for a map with directions. The easiest way to get there is, from C470, exit Wadsworth south, and immediately turn right onto Deer Creek Canyon Road. Drive west about 3 miles. You'll see the sign and parking lot for South Valley Park on the right, just before South Valley Road. (You can also get there by exiting C470 at Ken Caryl Ave., go west to S. Valley Road, turn left/south and follow it south to Deer Creek Canyon Rd.)
