Self-Organizing Teams: What and How ?

In our previous meet-up event, a majority of the participants listed "building self-organizing teams" as one of the preferred areas for discussion. Hence this topic. Self-organization is a fundamental concept in agile project management. The performance of agile teams hinges on the self-organizing capabilities of the team members. Creating such teams is far more challenging than ever imagined. In this session we will discuss the definition and merits of self-organizing teams, challanges faced in building a self-organizing team, and the opportunities such teams present in scaling agility.

It was a very helpful session. Specially listening to other people's view and how it is working or not working for them.

I have learn that age is only a sign of being stuck in a mold of the old. Those who come to Rome have to live as the Romans do. Those who come to change the Romans will only be left in understanding that Rome is for tradition.

I am seeing a disruption between those who come from the "classic" PM role versus trying really internalize Agile. As for myself I am seeking 1st to understand and then to be understood.

The presentation was good. Even greater value was the group conversation sparked by various points in the presentation. It is very helpful to learn from each other's experience and insights.

So sorry I missed this! Will be there next month. We are looking for employees that can function as ScrumMaster consultants and/or Scrum/Agile Coaches. Candidates need to have a strong consulting background. www.daugherty.com or email me at [masked].

I am interested in knowing the experience from different people in building the self-organizing team. My feel is Scrum Master has to groom and mentor team members and also look for any additional help required for any team member.
