Agile Denver Kanban SIG

Agile Denver Kanban SIG: is a forum for those interested in learning with others about applying lean and agile principles along with pull/kanban system concepts to assist with catalyzing and effectively managing change to improve their business workflow processes, and to predictably forecast and answer the question “When will it be done?” It is a special interest group (SIG) of the Agile Denver group, and is also loosely associated with the global Lean & Kanban University and Limited WIP Society.

Hi All,

Looking forward to kicking off 2017 with our first SIG meet-up for the new year on Thursday January 12th.

Note Location Update: Steven Archer and Kaiser Permanente have graciously offered to again host our monthly meeting at the Kaiser Permanente IT Building in Englewood (see below for details). [We will not meet at the Southglenn Library (Room A) as orignally posted.]

We continue with alternating each month between an “advance topic” led by senior practitioners, and an “open mic/any-level topic” suggested by attendees. This month is an “advance topic."

I'll be facilitating an introduction to "Featureban." I had a chance to use the game on a recent engagement, and was immediately impressed by its simplicity. The simplicity keeps the focus on introducing and learning key concepts of pull and flow rather than learning "rules of a game." We effectively used it with teams working on the shop floor as well as with Senior Managers and VPs. If you're new to "kanban" I think you'll enjoy this introduction to Featureban. And if you're coaching others, I hope you find it worthy to add to your tool belt.

We'll need 70-90 minutes minimally for the introduction to Featureban and debrief, so we'll have to skip the “lean coffee” this month that we typically do in the 2nd hour.

    Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who attended last night’s Agile Denver Kanban SIG. I hope many of you took away some learning that you can apply soon in your work places (maybe even today). And remember please keep the conversations going that you started with others there last night via comments on this latest Meetup event or via direct Meetup emails.

Thanks again to Steven Archer and Kaiser Permanente for graciously hosting our event last night. We’re very grateful to have such an awesome space to meet-up.

Thanks Wade for continuing to help co-facilitate this meetup, keeping it going and running smoothly. Thanks regulars, you know who you are ;>) who show up at just about every one of our meet-ups, for sharing your in-depth experiences and insights.

And thanks to you “first-timers” who keep the questions, perspectives, and discussion “fresh” as we head into our 6th year (this June). We hope you’ll join us again soon!

    Take care,
    Frank

All - please call me on my work cell when you get here and I'll come down and escort you to the conference room. [masked]-7367. Remember - doors lock at 6pm. You will still need me to escort you down to the conference room, as the elevators are badge coded. Thank you.

    Hi All,

I'm looking forward to tonight's Agile Denver Kanban SIG. I also wanted to share two brief reminders.

    1) If you RSVP'd early on (before last Thu) and missed the update earlier, please note we changed locations (last Thu). See updated location info above for details; in short, we'll meet again at the Kaiser IT Building, same place as last November's SIG mtg.

    2) If plans changed since your RSVP, please update if you get a minute. It is helpful if were able to get the latest updates prior to us setting up the room. Thanks!

    Take care,
    Frank
