Agile Denver Kanban CoP: is a community of practice for practitioners interested in sharing and learning with others about applying lean and agile principles along with flow, pull, and kanban system concepts to assist with catalyzing and effectively managing change to improve their business workflow processes, and to predictably forecast and answer the question “When will it be done?” It is a "special interest group" of the broader Agile Denver group and is also associated with the global Lean & Kanban University and Limited WIP Society.
Our next Agile Denver Kanban CoP meetup will be on Thursday (06/13), from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Over the last couple of meetups we've covered how a CoP differs specifically from a user group, special interest group, or vanilla meetup. And how a true CoP will primarily shift the way we use the Deep-dive portion of our meetup, along with some off-line changes as well carried out between meetups. To that end the Deep-dive topic at each meetup will be determined by CoP's core members, working from a list of topics they've created. One or more of the core members will facilitate the first hour discussion on this Deep-dive topic.
For this month the Deep-dive is "What is Lean? Is Lean to Kanban as Agile is to Scrum? Can you do Lean without Kanban? Does Lean Agile actually mean anything or is it just a marketing term? Note the Deep-dive topic not intended as an introduction to lean, flow, pull, or kanban concepts. However, it is open to all who want to attend regardless of their experience level.
After a short break, the second hour will continue to follow a "Lean Coffee" format, where everyone attending can put forth quetions, issues, topics, etc. for consideration and these can be at any experience level. If you're not familiar with Lean Coffee, a quick Google search can provide you a quick over view. Lean Coffees are themselves a great way to help identify future Deep-dive topics of interest.
If any of that sounds interesting to you, we hope you'll join us!
