How do we get more leadership support of Agile?

Note: This will be a virtual event using Zoom.

Seems like an age-old tension by now, doesn’t it? “Agilists” and traditionalists, especially those traditionalists in leadership positions we read about every year in the “state of” reports. “If those ‘executives/managers/team members that don’t get it’ would just get out of the way,” “Can’t they just see that it is better over here in agile?.” As a former Scrum Master and Agile Coach, I’ve carried similar thoughts, had the same discussions at conferences, meetups, etc. Yet in recent years, I’ve come to see things in a different light. What if, the problem isn’t the leaders/managers/team members? How are we (proponents) contributing to and supporting this challenge? What is it that we are all missing? In this session, we will take a provocative look into this tension and the underlying thought patterns that support it. We’ll explore what we (AgileKC) might be able to change to reduce frustration for all parties involved in transformation.

Kay Harper is a professional coach that works with leaders and teams looking to grow and reach higher levels of success in this challenging time of exponential change. Kay’s passion is being a catalyst for organizations as they navigate this transformation, speeding up the rate in which individuals and teams become more engaged and produce better results. Her lifelong experience as a leader, coach, consultant and practitioner gives Kay a keen understanding of what’s needed to help businesses thrive in the increasingly unpredictable market.
In 2011, Kay recognized the growing demand for leading and working in a new way. She started her own company in 2014 with a determined focus on partnering with people and organizations as they make this shift. Her twenty-plus years of working in various industries and companies of all sizes enable her to assist leaders and teams through change to see tangible results. Her clients will tell you that she has a unique skillset bringing alignment to both the people side of organizations (culture, leadership, teamwork, motivation) and the business side of organizations (strategy, process improvement, implementing delivery frameworks).
In addition, Kay is a faculty member of Team Catapult where she leads transformational courses teaching leaders and coaches the skills of coaching and facilitating. Kay is certified to utilize the Leadership Circle Profile to create new awareness for leaders in both impact and adjusting to times of uncertainly.
