We are honored to have David Neal as our guest speaker at this meetup. David is a magnificent speaker who has given several talks at CodeStock over the years as well as other conferences across the country. Those who have seen his talks can attest to the supreme quality of his illustrations! He spent several years building high-performance, scalable social media applications, worked as a senior developer and developer advocate at LeanKit, and currently works at Joyent helping to build the next-generation cloud platform.
We would like to thank TEKsystems who have agreed to sponsor this meetup. We will have appetizers and snacks starting at 5:30 and prepare for David to start his talk at 6. Below is a summary of what you can expect to hear from him.
When shipping software, there is a constant battle between going fast and doing it right. Add to the mix the fact that coordination across teams and departments comes at a high transaction cost. How can we minimize the friction?
At LeanKit, we strove to continuously improve our processes across the entire organization. Along the way, we developed FSGD, which we affectionately pronounce "fizz good." FSGD is our thinking tool for shipping Frequent, Small, Good, and Decoupled value.
In this talk, I'll share with you the challenges we faced as we scaled, how we struggled, what we learned, and how we're evolving. The goal is for you to walk away with tools and practical processes that will impact you and your team's success.
