We're kicking off 2016 with a bang! Jeff Gothelf, co-author of the best-selling Lean UX: Applying Lean Principles to Improve User Experience (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920021827.do) book, will join us live via Skype as one of our guest speakers at our January meetup!
We are also delighted to have Seán Finlay, Head of Propositions at Ammeon live and in person. Sean writes a DevOps and Lean-Agile (http://www.ammeon.com/author/sean/) blog. And will be sharing his considerable expertise in developing DevOps solutions.
There will also be a competition, kindly sponsored by our friends at Scrum Ireland (http://www.scrum.ie/), to win one of three signed copies of Jeff's Lean UX book
As always, we will be having our usual 30 second elevator pitches. If you've an idea, opportunity, event or vacancy to share with our community of Entrepreneurs and Agilistas please let us know and we're happy to promote.
Finally, we've moved venue:
You asked, and we listened :) Thank you for all your feedback from our first Meetup. One of the things we took on board was to find a more central venue. With that in mind, Bank of Ireland on Grand Canal Square are kindly hosting our January Meetup. As you can see below, the new venue is amazing. We can't wait already...
There will also be complimentary tea, coffee and sandwiches for everyone who comes along.
Speaker 1: Jeff Gothelf (co-author of Lean UX)
Jeff Gothelf: Ship, sense, and respond: A culture of continuous learning
Getting bits out to customers as they’re ready is slowly becoming the norm for many organizations. But simply being able to ship software faster doesn’t actually mean we’re building better products. In this talk, Jeff will cover how our increasingly continuous capabilities are leading to an increasingly continuous culture. This has profound implications on how we build software, how we staff teams, how we manage and incentivize them, as well as their ever-increasing levels of empowerment and autonomy.
Jeff will cover practical tips for team structure, funding patterns, and incentive structures, to help leverage this continuous reality into a great company culture that ships successful products.
Jeff is lean evangelist at Neo (http://neo.com/), spreading the gospel of great team collaboration, product innovation and evidence-based decision making.
Jeff is a speaker and thought leader on the future of user experience design, often teaching workshops or giving talks on building cultures that support teamwork and innovation. Jeff is passionate about advancing the principles that lie at the core of Neo, and often does so on a global scale.
Prior to joining Neo, Jeff led the UX design teams at TheLadders and Web Trends. Earlier he worked with and led small teams of software designers at AOL. He is the co-author (with Josh Seiden (http://www.fluxible.ca/flux2013/program/lean-ux/)) of Lean UX: Applying Lean Principles to Improve User Experience (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920021827.do) and of the upcoming Sense and Respond (sensingbook.com (http://sensingbook.com/)).
Speaker 2: Sean Finlay (Head of Propositions at Ammeon)
Seán is Head of Propositions at Ammeon (http://www.ammeon.com/), with responsibility for defining and developing the company’s Lean-Agile Services Offerings.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Seán’s previous roles include Director of Product Management for Cloud Solutions at Synchronoss, and various senior product development and technical management roles at companies in Ireland and the USA.
