  • Monthly Meeting - Holiday Social
Topic: Holiday Social Throughout the year, Agile Austin had so many volunteers help grow the community that the board decided to host an annual social event in December to thank them for their valuable contributions. It was a great event, with great conversation and networking, and excitement around the great impact of the volunteer efforts. And so began an Agile Austin tradition! The Agile Austin Board hopes that you will join them at Chez Zee on December 12th for some great food, great atmosphere and most of all, great company. Please bring your stories from the past year of Agile Austin to share. What was the favorite thing seen? How did you get helped by your Agile Austin colleagues? These stories will add greatly to the notes of appreciation expressed by the board. Please note that this social gathering will be held in place of the regular December monthly meeting. Space is limited and we need to lock in headcount fairly soon, so please RSVP as soon as possible. Monthly Meeting Info: Food and Drink will be provided courtesy of Agile Austin. Seating is limited! Please make sure that you are able to attend this session. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. We want to give everyone the opportunity to attend, so please only sign up if you are committed to attending. For more information/questions, please send email to: [masked] .

Topic: Certain to Win (John Boyd) 2 of 2 We're reading "Certain to Win: The Strategy of John Boyd, Applied to Business" by Chet Richards (Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/ycdg5tks). • Coaching SIG - Agile Mindset, Agile Transformations, & Musicality
Topic: Agile Mindset, Agile Transformations, & Musicality Mimi Mattox is still new to agile, but she has already picked up on the similarities between learning a new musical instrument and agile transformations. In this talk, which is a bit of a departure from our usual format, Mimi will talk to us about how teaching a musical instrument is similar to being a scrum master or agile coach. She’ll also talk about how orchestrating a musical group relates to agile ceremonies and values. Speaker: Mimi Mattox Mimi works in product management and marketing in the Denver office of Charles Schwab. She began to play the ukulele in 2016 when her sister gave her one for Christmas, and she has been strumming away ever since. When she isn’t leading impromptu teachings at Schwab, helping her coworkers learn to bring joy and music to their daily lives, you’ll find her at a hockey game or testing new recipes on her family. • Audacious Agile Conversations November
Event moved to fourth week to avoid conflicts with holiday travel. Join us for the next session of audacious agile conversations! Audacious Agile Conversations is a space for Agilists to engage in conversations with passionate people on difficult or challenging topics in Agile practice, to learn from each others experiences and perspectives, and to challenge one another to push at the outer boundaries of what we think is possible for our teams, our organizations and ourselves. Though we may occasionally deal with topics that are advanced, the only prerequisite for participation is that you are interested in advancing. Audacious conversations is conversation driven, so come prepared to share and be shared with. We will be using a lean coffee format once again. First round is on us!

  • Agile at Scale SIG - SAFe Kanbans - from concept to cash
Topic: SAFe Kanbans - from concept to cash When your CEO and your lead developer sit at desks a few yards apart, getting from concept to cash is easy. But what happens when they don’t even sit in the same building? And there’s marketing, legal and other departments in the way? How do you scale that communications path? SAFe provides an answer. At every level of SAFe there is a kanban, or backlog, that takes ideas from above, then curates and feeds them towards the teams. This discussion will take an indepth look at these kanbans and how to efficiently move ideas from concept to cash. Speaker: Lee Allison Lee Allison has been involved in IT since leaving the US Navy in 95 an has performed project management roles in the largest corporations in the world. A decade ago he ran into, and fell in love with agile practices when he saw how much of a difference agile can make in people's work lives. He currently lives and practices in Austin Tx.
