Our Board

President – Yasser Farra

Yasser Farra believes in collaborative product development that delivers superior customer value and creates raving fans. Yasser has 25+ years of experience leading technology teams from small organizations to Fortune 500 companies. In the last 10 years, Yasser has focused on practicing and coaching Agile leadership, building high-performing Agile teams, and guiding organizations to adopt a culture of team achievement, empowerment, mentorship, and continuous learning.

Yasser is VP of Engineering at Alegion, an organization that helps those who seek work or want work performed, where he leads the development of a cloud labor automation platform that combines human judgment and artificial intelligence to deliver high-quality results, at scale, and at the most effective cost. Yasser is also CEO of Agile Accompli, which helps organizations deliver products and services to their customers early and often by adopting Agile and Lean principles and methodologies. He was previously Director of Product Development at Kasasa, where he led the development of innovative financial products for community financial institutions across the nation. Prior to Kasasa, he was Director of Engineering at All Web Leads, building real-time systems that deliver quality leads to top insurance producers.

Vice President – Jason Morillo

Since 2000, Jason Morillo has held various roles around business analysis, QA, management, and Scrum inside of building large insurance & financial administration systems. Having experienced and led successful agile implementations while also simply enduring and surviving challenging adoptions, Jason finds himself a pragmatic Agilist and believes that building a culture of agility starts at the team level. Currently, he is a practicing ScrumMaster and Agile Coach at Sapling Learning, an education technology company.

An MIS graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, Jason is also a Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Scrum Professional under Scrum Alliance. He is also a Certified Tester under ISTQB. When not in the office or at Agile Austin events, you’ll find Jason hanging out with the wife & two kiddos, at UT Football games, or paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake.

Program Chair – Reese Schmit

Reese has been in the software industry for the better part of 15 years. In that time she has worn many hats, from User Experience Designer to Product Manager, QA Engineer to ScrumMaster. The knowledge gained from each of these roles allows her to frame problems from different perspectives and foster change through empathy. As an Agile Coach, she has worked to help organizations drive customer value, transparency, and collaboration and to motivate teams to continuously improve.

When she’s not coaching, Reese is helping to run the Austin Atlassian User Group and the Agile Austin Coaching SIG. When she’s not doing that, she is either chasing her tiny human girl or two canine boys around, hanging with her amazing husband, brewing beer, or, if by some miracle she gets to sit down, knitting.

Treasurer – David Wight

David Wight has been involved with software development for many, many years. During that time he’s worked in diverse domains and served in many roles including programmer, architect, director of IT, director of development, vice president of quality, company president, board member and senior consultant. Over the years, he’s been active as a member, volunteer and officer in professional organization and has accumulated a long list of certifications.
He recognized the potential of Agile early on and received his CSM certificate from Ken Schwaber in 2003. Since that time, he’s led Agile teams, established Agile practices and evangelized Agile in traditionally “non-agile” domains. He began his association with Agile Austin when it was first proposed by Scott Killen, and has been active (in varying degrees as life permits) since that time. He was the original Agile Austin Book Club leader in 2009 and remains active in it to this day. David’s been an active member of the Keep Austin Agile Conference planning committee since 2015 and in 2017 served as its co-chair.
David wants to give back and make a positive impact on Austin's Agile community. He loves traveling to remote locations all over the world to experience and photograph incredible landscapes, diverse cultures and remarkable flora and fauna.

Education Chair – Ned Horvath

Dr Horvath received his bachelors’ degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Master of Arts and Ph.D. from Princeton University, all in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science. His early research was in the complexity of algorithms, particularly related to sorting and optimal scheduling.

In an industrial career spanning more than three decades, Dr Horvath was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, where among other projects he was a design engineer for the Tuxedo OLTP system and AT&T’s commercial email system. He has led software development teams at Sun Microsystems and several startup and emerging growth companies, including multidisciplinary international development teams. Among the resulting products are optimization products for major airlines, key elements of the standards-based Defense Messaging System for the US Department of Defense, the market-leading QuickMail system for Macintosh-based computers, the market leading ichat internet messaging products, and Oracle’s Java System Directory (LDAP) product suite, and several mobile applications.

Dr Horvath has served on the faculties of Massey University (New Zealand), The Pennsylvania State University, Texas A&M International University, The Cooper Union, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Nova Southeastern University.

Technology Chair – David Croley

David Croley is a Principle Consultant at Agile Velocity. With over 20 years of professional software development experience working for both large and small companies, he has a broad technical background.

Prior to joining Agile Velocity, David was Director of Libreeze Engineering at RenewData where he worked on projects involving eDiscovery, Search Indexing, and Language Analysis. He earned both Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Engineering degrees from The University of Texas at Austin.

Born and raised in Texas, he has lived in Austin for nearly 30 years. Thus, he tends to give directions based on where places “used to be”. He’s also an avid cyclist and rides most weekends when he is not spending time with his family enjoying all that Austin has to offer.
