What we're about

A community effort to create a free, professional-level training program for developers of decentralized applications in Northeast Ohio.

DApp means 'decentralized application'. It's an application designed to run in a permissionless way. They allow users to permanently exchange information and they no longer need a trusted third-party to do so.

These technologies are going to dramatically change the way we build software.

DApps can potentially involve a wide range of technologies. The ones we will be focusing on first will be Ethereum, IPFS, and Javascript.

You do not need any tech experience to join. In fact sometimes it's easier for newcomers to pick things up. If you can understand 8th grade algebra you can build a DApp.

Training will be in-person in Akron.

Classes will be free, public, and everyone with genuine interest in DApp development is welcome to join!

Note: You don't have to be signed up for the training program to come to posted meetups. Everyone is welcome.

Upcoming events (5+)

We're Building a Peer to Peer Social Networking App. Come Join Us!

Update: This week we're going to be building a small "Todo list" app using IPFS from a template. It's a simple app that we can use to make sure our environments are set up properly and start writing some code. ---------------------------------------- Bring a laptop and learn to build a small DApp using Solidity and Javascript! There is no need to be an expert on any technology at all. If you have a genuine interest to learn and a functioning laptop, come join us. No matter where we are in the series you are always welcome to jump in at any time. We'll all help you get caught up. This is a series of events where we're build a peer to peer publishing platform together. We're going to learn about and use the following technologies: 1. The Ethereum smart contract platform. 2. IPFS 3. Javascript/Typescript 4. Truffle We're going to learn how to use these tools to build a P2P publishing platform that will allow you to share all the same kinds of things you post on Facebook, but you just post it to your friends and family. You and your friends have your posts and anyone you decide to share it with. You don't need to set up a server or anything, all of the content is right on your devices. As it gets more popular more and more people will begin to host it. Meme scaling is built in. We call this platform 'Large'. We're going to be thorough with this and I expect it to take the rest of the summer. This is a marathon and not a sprint. Come join us at any time. The more of us there are the easier it will be to learn. Bring your laptop and we'll help you get set up. Here's the git repository where we're sharing all of our code. https://github.com/ptoner/large It contains instructions for getting your machine set up to run the project. If you have any issues please stop into our Discord server and we'll be glad to assist. https://discord.gg/kRydQeW We're now meeting at the new Cryptocurrency Training Center in Akron! 644 E Tallmadge Ave
