Book Club: Front-End Web Development - Week 2

  • to
  • Mustard Seed Cafe

867 W. Market St, Akron, OH (map)

    41.097263 -81.545074

  • Announcing our next book club! We will be working through Front-End Web Development: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide. If you use this link to buy the book, AkronWiT gets affiliate credit - the price of the book is the same, but we get a small bonus from Amazon for referring you.

Week 2: Read chapters 3 & 4 prior to the meetup

Email [masked] to be invited to our Slack so you can join the #book-club group there. (Note: our Slack is open only to people who identify as women.)

We chose this book because we will build several projects as we go through it, and it covers all layers of front end web development. We will learn and practice using:
    - HTML/CSS (Flexbox, media queries)
    - JavaScript (working with the DOM, jQuery)
    - Chrome dev tools
    - Bootstrap
    - APIs/AJAX
    - Node.js
    - ES6 with Babel
    - Application architecture (Ember, npm, Bower, external libraries and add-ons)
    - MVC (Models, views/templates, controllers)

Don't worry if you don't recognize these tools or concepts - you will be confident in them by the end of the book club.

    All experience levels welcome!
