9a Walk Marin Avenue
We'll walk east on Marin to the Marin Circle fountain and back (about 2.3 miles roundtrip). The walk starts out flat and slowly rises about 250 feet. Please join us to explore and figure out how we want the walk to go, how long, if there are good breaking points like we have on our Pt. Isabel walk, etc. Optional: arrive early for unsupervised stretching. Also, please check out Bronwyn's walk for a faster pace at 11a on Saturdays. Questions? Please call or e-mail. What we're about

This group is about providing regular walks for 30-60 minutes or more at a time. Great for the beginning walker! The group is about fitness. The average speed experienced members walk is 3 mph but if you are just getting started, we can walk your rate and help you meet that goal.

I started this group to make myself accountable to showing up to walk. I've met a lot of wonderful people and have graduated from huffing and puffing on a 30 minute walk to going on a 7 mile! Took 3 months. (I went on almost every walk.)

So, start your regular walks and follow me to success. Walking is one of the greatest exercises - better in many ways than running since it is not as hard on the joints. Just takes longer. But with good company, who cares! You can also schedule your own walks. It's all about meeting your own walking and fitness goals.

Thanks to all the wonderful people who have joined me! Looking forward to meeting more. Bring your friends!

6/2/14 Starting today, there is a "No Dog" policy. I love dogs, as do many of the other members, but some people are fearful of them. Also, dogs tend to slow us down because they want to do dog things (sniff and poop) and this is a fitness group where, for the most part, we are aimed at keeping a steady pace.

Also, there are some people who don't have cars or who want to carpool to the events. Please give 24 hour notice if you need a ride by posting in the event or make arrangements personally after you have initiated contact. Most of the time, people are happy to help out but they may have other plans so please don't count on a ride to or from the event unless you have prior arrangements.

I'm not big on rules but do insist that members treat all other members (including organizers) with respect. If you have any problems with me or other organizers or members who post or belong to this group, please contact me or them by private message. All posts in this group are PUBLIC and may be viewed by anyone. Negative comments may reflect poorly on members either PERSONALLY or PROFESSIONALLY and may affect the decisions of potential new members to join this group. If you violate what I consider the rules of propriety, you will be banned from the group.
