What do you write?

I am working on my first novel, which is a techno thriller. I haven't gotten very far yet.

What do you like to read?

Thrillers, Science Fiction, and way too much non-fiction.

Who are your favorite authors?

John Grisham, Dan Brown, Elizabeth Peters, John Le Carre, J. K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Anne McCaffrey, Isaac Asimov, Shakespeare, Dickens, Karen Armstrong, Peter Drucker, Barbara Tuchman, Seth Godin, Joel Spolsky, Andrew Sullivan. The oldest advice in the world is, "write what you know". I am fascinated by authors who follow that advice to blaze new trails. John Grisham, a lawyer, invented the category of the legal thriller. Elizabeth Peters, trained as an Egyptologist, set murder mysteries among the community of archeologists who explored Egyptian ruins. J. K. Rowling was trained in the classics, and mined that training to create the Harry Potter series. Rick Riordan taught mythology and classics and then created a series of novels which re-interpreted Greek and Roman myths for a new generation.

Introduction

I am new to writing fiction, and looking forward to figuring out how to do this stuff. I am working on a techno-thriller.
