Albuquerque Queer Women Meetup is a social organization for lesbians and queer women in the Albuquerque metro area. It is based on my favorite Lesbian Meetup in the world, LOCA, or Lesbians of a Certain Age in Portland, Oregon. In COVID times we will be doing things on line such as book clubs, game nights and crafting! Always looking for new co-chairs and new ideas!
Members get together, in non-COVID times, for concerts, live music, theater, film, dining out, board games, topic-focused discussion groups, hiking, kayaking, walking, and day trips organized by members as well as many other activities.
Albuquerque Queer Women Meetup hosts in non-COVID times a holiday party in December, a picnic in June or July, and a monthly potluck gathering. Come to the potlucks to find women to play, laugh, and eat with. At the potluck you can find out what's happening now and start your own group based on your interest. Joining Meetup is not the same thing as joining Albuquerque Queer Women Meetup. Think of this Meetup page as the bulletin board outside the auditorium that is the Albuquerque Queer Women Meetup group. It gives you an idea of what's going on but doesn't give you the full experience of what it means to be Albuquerque Queer Women Meetup.
Our aim is to foster community. Too many lesbians are sitting home alone wishing there was a way to meet women like us and that we had someone to play with. Here it is!! Your big chance!! Come on out--of the house, that is! Thanks and hope to see you real soon!
Albuquerque Queer Women Meetup , although when something is scheduled some places that requires a donation, we ask that each attendee make a small donation for operating costs. Attendees at the potlucks are asked to bring a dish to share. Otherwise, the cost of the day is getting there and socializing. We meet and mingle in different small- to medium-sized groups. There are no membership dues.
