This group is primarily aimed at people between the ages of 30-65 who would like to get more out of their free time by doing interesting and rewarding events with like-minded people. Whatever your background and range of interests, we hope to offer a variety of events in a friendly and welcoming environment. Whether you're simply looking to make new friends, or kick start your social life, this is a great way to meet new people and form long lasting friendships while doing the things that interest you the most. Not only that, you get to have a say on what events you would like to see run within the group. If there's nothing being run that appeals to you then why not, if you're feeling confident, set up and host an event yourself or make a suggestion to one of our organisers.

------------------------------------ Guide for new members -------------------------------------
We do ask that anyone joining the group includes a photo on their profile clearly showing their face and in which they are easily identifiable. We would ask that noone else appears in the photo so as to avoid confusion. This is so that other members, and particularly the event host, know who to look out for at future events as well as also engendering a degree of trust and security within the group. There are exceptions to this rule, however - we accept that, for example, owing to the delicate nature of someone's job or a personal issue it may not always be desirable to supply a personal photo. In such cases, if you could send a private message to one of our organisers explaining your reasons for not wanting to supply a photo we will endeavour to accommodate you.
I'd also like to draw your particular attention to our '3 strikes and you're out' rule found in the 'Pages' drop down menu bar along the top of the group home page. We simply ask that if you find that you can no longer make an event after previously having RSVPed YES, that you as a MINIMUM change your RSVP to NO, giving the event organiser as much notice as possible. We would also appreciate a quick note as to why you can no longer attend via the comments section or as a private message to the event organiser. There is a good reason for this. Quite often the event organiser may have to pay a deposit or make an advanced payment for an event based on numbers attending so changing your RSVP in good time provides the event organiser with a degree of protection against being left out of pocket. Also, a number of our events have waiting lists, so by simply failing to turn up to an event you are preventing that place going to someone on the waiting list who would have liked to have gone. So, we would ask please consider the effect this has on others when you simply don't turn up to an event. Repeat offenders who persistently fail to turn up to events without updating their RSVP will be removed from the group.
Also, this is NOT a DATING SITE. While we accept that friendships within the group can sometimes develop into something more, this is NOT the primary intention of the group. We want to create a safe environment for our members to socialise and participate in events. There are plenty of dating sites on the internet if this is what you're looking for.
