What we're about

Carpe Vinum is "All About the Wine" and our focus is on 90 point or higher rated wines. Wine tastings are paired with four course dinners so members can appreciate the qualities of the wines and also the way that food interacts with each wine to enrich the educational experience.

Membership is open to the general public for individuals who have a interest in highly rated diverse wines. All proceeds from Carpe Vinum events fund a scholarship program for students in culinary education at Broward Technical College.

Wines
Lilian Ladouys 2016
St-Estèphe
92 pts. WA
The blend is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, and it has 14.41% alcohol. From the lieu-dit Blanquet and with a deep purple-black color, the 2016 Lilian Ladouys gives up wonderfully spicy black fruit preserves notions: plum preserves, crème de cassis and blueberry with hints of exotic spices, menthol and violets.

Ormes de Pez 2016
St. Estephe
92 pts. WS
This sports a juicy core of damson plum and red currant fruit, backed by a strong mineral edge that lends ample cut and drive to the finish. Shows pleasant austerity, with the structure to age.

Chateau Branaire Ducru 2016
St. Julien
96 pts. WS / 94 pts. WA
The core of this red is loaded with pure plum, blueberry and black currant fruit flavors. The polished structure is integrated, with alluring ganache, anise and sweet tobacco notes throughout, all in a polished and balanced frame. A very classy red that isn't shy about its power but pushes its purity to the fore.
#16 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2019

Côte de Baleau 2105
St-Emilion
93 pts. WA / 92 pts. WS
The 2015 Côte de Baleau has a refined and intense bouquet with precise black and red fruit, seamlessly integrated oak and a sense of terroir coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity and plenty of finesse and poise towards the finish.
