What we’re about

From food novices to epicurean gourmands, our members always have a fun time trying new spots, old haunts, and established venues throughout the Tallahassee and surrounding area.  Join us to share laughter, great conversation, a good meal, and drink.

Our events include breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner; food festivals, happy hours, and more! From time to time, we have a potluck or themed parties at a member's house (who is kind enough to host).  We'll partake of food and drink delights at various eateries in the Tally area. Whether it's a fantastic hole-in-the-wall, a hot, new upscale restaurant, or a local legend, we'll try it.
This group is about joining interesting food with interesting people. Events fill quickly, so jump on the waitlist because plans change and spots open ALL the time.
Don't see your favorites on our calendar? Feel free to step up and host.

Any member can post an event and we hope you will! This group thrives because members suggest events.  Just use the "suggest a meetup" feature and suggest the meetup.

Please read this fine print on Meetup etiquette!
1.  RSVP & No Show Policy:
To ensure everyone has an opportunity to enjoy our group events, please only RSVP when you know your availability and intend to participate in an event.  Your RSVP is your commitment to attend the event.  We know plans can change, and expect that you change your RSVP accordingly and keep it current.  If you are bringing a guest, you are responsible for the RSVP commitment of the guest also.  You may be requested to share the name of the guest with the event host.
For limited attendance events with reservations--for example, dinner at a restaurant--please make sure you change your RSVP or contact the host in advance if you can't make it. The host has taken the trouble to make the reservations, the restaurant has set up a table and ensures sufficient waiters/waitresses for the group size, and often there are members on a waitlist. Please don't make a habit of canceling within 24 hours of the event start time.   This is not respectful to the host and members on the waitlist.   Members who consistently sign up for an event and then change the "RSVP" within 24 hours of the start of an event will be prevented from signing up for future events.
If your plans change on the day of the event, please send a message to the event Host letting them know that you cannot make it rather than just changing the RSVP.
We have a Zero Tolerance for No Shows.  If you are a "No Show" you will not be allowed to attend any future limited events.

We have a simple no-show policy. If something happens and you can not make an event change your status to not attending.  No-Shows cost restaurants $$ and lessen our group credibility when we obtain discounts or favors based on the group size. If you have 2 no-shows in a short period, you will be removed from the group.

  1. Photo Requirement:  For the safety of all members, we do require members to post a current headshot so that we can easily recognize each other at events.  Please select your "My Profile" (top right menu) and review your profile photo. There is a menu below your photo to change (if necessary) the present photo.  If for some personal reason, you do not want your photo on the site, please contact the organizer of this group directly to explain why (all exceptions will be made solely by the organizer on a case to case basis).  Any person without a photo may not be allowed to attend events hosted at a private residence (depending on the discretion of the host).
    3. Using the "Comments" section:
Please use the comments section to ask about the venue, details of the event, or to find people to carpool. Please DO NOT use the comments section as a chat room to discuss meetup etiquette, criticize other members, or to tell other members how they should behave. If you have a problem with a member, contact that person via private message and ALSO contact the leadership team.
    4. Respect & Consideration for the fellow members:
Please be courteous and respectful of the members of the group.  We are all here to have a good time and build new friendships along the way.  This is not a singles or a dating group.  If you have an interest in another person be respectful in asking them out. However, if they are not interested then please accept their decision.  Any complaints of harassment will be dealt with immediately including termination from the group.
    5.  Membership
To cover the cost of the Meetup (which is paid by the Organizer), there will be $6 membership paid annually.   New members will be required to pay this amount within 30 days of joining.  People who do not pay the dues will be automatically removed from the group.

The organizers of this meetup reserve the right to remove members who don't respect these policies.

Meetup ideas (please feel free to suggest and host*)

A COOK-OFF: A few members square off on a particular dish Examples: mini burgers, chili, lasagna, finger food appetizers, desserts, sangria or maybe an ethnic dish. The remaining members cast their votes anonymously for the winner.

THEMED POTLUCK: The theme could be cultural (e.g. Mexican, Thai, Italian, soul food) or an ingredient (e.g. fish, ground turkey, or a particular vegetable) or a spice.

INTERNATIONAL POTLUCK CHALLENGE: Each person contributing a dish tries their hand at something outside of their own culture.

COOKIE SWAP: Each person (just the bakers) brings a tin of cookies. After the sampling, everyone leaves with an assortment! Don't forget the milk and/or wine.

GOOD OL' COOKOUT: Break out the grill... enough said :)

DINNER AT... 'CHEZ VOUS': Whenever you feel like sharing a meal, post the meetup, prepare the meal and we'll bring the sides and the company :)

A COOKING CLASS, WORKSHOP OR TOUR: Hear about an interesting food-related class or workshop or tour of a local farm, brewery, etc? Post it as an event with any details or links about how to attend.

Any other ideas? :)
