September Meet & Greet at Bill's House

  • Sep 13, 2014 · 4:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

I’m hosting an informal get together at my house.  It’s a cookout, so come as you are.  I have a grill and will supply hotdogs & hamburgers, both meat and veggie, and the buns and the condiments.  Please bring a side or dessert to share and your favorite beverage, whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic.  Whatever you like to eat or drink at a cookout.

Personally, I drink wine and an occasional beer and I don’t really know anything about mixing drinks, but if someone wants to play bartender and bring all the stuff and set up a ‘mimosa station’ in the kitchen well, that’s A-okay with me.

The cook-out will be held rain or shine. The grill is on the back patio.  The patio is huge, but it is currently ‘occupied’ by about two hundred bushes and trees which I plan to plant this fall.  I am  digging all the holes like mad, but I may not have many (or any) of the bushes in the ground by then because I am digging all the holes first, then I'll plant all the stuff afterwards.  Anyway, since I am sending this invite two months in advance, it’s hard to predict how far along I’ll be with this little project by then; so that’s why I am planning on everyone eating inside the house anyway.  The show will go on…rain or shine.

Mine is the first house on the left when you enter the neighborhood and is really easy to find, but I’ll also tie a balloon or ribbon or something on the mailbox.  Please park in back of the house.  Just pull in the driveway and turn left at the magnolia (it's only about 10 feet tall, so look real hard for it) and drive right on through the front yard and around the far side of the house.  There is a drive-through gate in the chain link fence into the back yard.  Hope to see you.

    Will be a little late. Did not fry chicken, Bill. Hope you will still let me in the door ;-)

      Hi Shelly; Coming late is Okay, but I'm not so sure about the chicken. It's okay this time but let's not make this a habit.

    I had a great time meeting all of you that were there. Thank you, Bill, for welcoming me to your home for great guacamole, spicy salsa, wunderbar wurst, and possibly the best peppermint ice cream I have ever had - okay the only peppermint ice cream I have ever had. Delisioso! :-)

      oh by the way, I can't take credit for the guacamole, though I would like to. It was Shellys. Her guacamole and macaroons disappeared really quick.

    Thank you all for coming. And I promise not to burn anybody's burgers next time or, better yet, I'll cook something totally different and avoid the possibility of burning burgers altogether. It was really good to see everyone. I had a great time and can't wait until our next meetUp.

    Debbie and Verlinda;
    Since you are both coming from work, just come straight over....no need to pick up anything. There will be plenty of food.

    Hello! I haven't been able to attend any events yet, so I thought I'd come by and meet some of the group. I'll be working until the early evening, so probably between 5-7 depending.

    Hi Verlinda; Please come on by whenever you can get here; 7:30 is not late at all. The grill will still be going and ice cream sounds really good to me.

    If y'all are still hanging out at 730, I would love to join you when I get off work. I could do a Kroger run for ice cream??

    Hey Gerrit; I keep telling myself at least it's not *three* hundred bushes and trees.

    Bill, I'm sure fellow gardeners will completely understand about having "two hundred bushes and trees" on your patio, waiting to be planted!
