On the trail, the slope or the water, Allegheny Ski & Sports Club members are on the lookout for outdoor fun by hiking, kayaking, skiing, bicycling or just getting together for a social outing. While centered in Altoona, we travel throughout the Alleghenies, including Blair, Bedford, Centre, Huntingdon, Cambria and Clearfield counties.
It's early Spring and that means it's time for our rail trail bikers to head south to do some riding in the warmer weather. As usual we can start in Hancock, MD. There are several nice places right along the trail to have lunch and a drink which we could do before hitting the trail. This year I want to ride East on the C&O Canal Trail (dirt) to Big Pool before returning on the Western Maryland Rail Trail (paved). That would be 11 miles EACH way. Afterwards we can chow down at Buddylou's in Hancock. The Five hour time frame allows for getting something to eat and drink before and after the ride as well as stopping for breaks and pics.
As of now the forcast for Hancock on the 27th is 68degrees and sunny !
