What we're about

Join up with neighbours and friends in the Almonte Ontario Riverfront Estates community to paddle (kayaks, canoes, SUPs all welcome) and enjoy other outdoor activities year-round. Our focus during paddling season are paddling events but off-season, we offer other opportunities to get outside.

The (CDN) Mississippi River is at the back door of the Almonte Riverfront community. Our summer evening paddling sessions begin at the community dock at 300 Spring Street. Other paddling events are held at other locations.

If, like me, you want to paddle more. But without scheduling it or having a commitment, it just doesn’t happen. This Meetup group is a great way to overcome that inertia! Let’s make every summer a wonderful one for paddling as well as for other outdoor adventures year-round - fun, exercise, sunshine in the great Canadian outdoors on our doorstep.

In 2019, we expanded our group's adventures to include half-day or full-day trips in the area or further afield. Members have hosted events at their favourite outdoor spots. As in pre-covid times and covid restrictions permitting, we will like plan paddling or hiking events in Algonquin Park (Barron Canyon), on the lower Madawaska River near Burnstown, in the Calabogie area and other locations. Most events are free to our paddling group members; however, the Event Host (any group member) may ask for a modest contribution to cover costs. Hosting opportunities are endless.

Our annual membership fee per person is $10 and is due January 1st each year. To apply for membership, please submit your answers to the questions. Honest answers help us to get to know you and ensure our group is a good fit for you. Send your etransfer for $10 to cover the annual membership fee. See details in the application questions.

Fees paid in November or December will be applied to the following year. Fees paid in any other month will be applied to the current year. Membership dues not received by January 31 result in membership cancellation. If you no longer wish to support this group, you may unsubscribe at any time.

We understand that you want to maintain privacy and not reveal too much detail in a public forum. However, if your Meetup name is only your first name and if there are others with the same first name, we may end up crediting the wrong group member. To avoid this, please either add an initial in place of your last name in your Meetup profile or state your exact Meetup name in the comment/notes/memo section of your e-transfer.
