One of the deeper meanings of Aloha is "being part of all and all being a part of me".Bhakti yoga has been called “love for love's sake” and “union through love and devotion.” Bhakti yoga, like any other form of yoga, is a path to self-realization, to having an experience of oneness with everything.
In this spirit, our yoga classes are 100% donation based and those donations are based right along to one of my favorite charities: Stand For Trees!
We practice yoga in Kapiolani park, near the Kapiolani Park bandstand, right next to the duck pond.
I have practiced yoga for over ten years and studied formally in Rishikesh India. Yoga to me is a moving meditation and my approach to it is very classical. I studied yoga therapeutics and am Yoga Alliance Registered and Certified.
This meetup group is also for anyone interested in leading a holistically well life! Events will include (but not be limited to) weekly traditional Hatha yoga classes and Yin yoga classes on Waikiki beach, sitting poolside sipping while discussing the health benefits of Chinese teas, visits to grocery stores to discuss how to shop for the family (topics may range from how to accommodate vegetarian or sugar-free and gluten-free diets!), creating patio gardens, natural chemical-free hair care solutions, Vipassana Meditation sessions, incorporating mindfulness in our daily lives, and more!
I started this group because I wanted to meet other people that are into living a healthy lifestyle. Let's come together and share our ideas. I would really love to create a community of holistic healing where all people share, support and learn from one another. Truly, all are welcome!
We will begin with a yoga class a week with an option to include more in the future.
Weekly Yoga Classes:
Slow Vinyasa Flow (excellent for all levels) is a slower type of yoga where poses flow from one to the next. This is an excellent practice for anyone looking to establish a slow mindful practice. Great for relieving stress, anxiety and working up a sweat! Slower and working on the more subtler energies, this type of yoga is excellent for any level!
Traditional Hatha (Astanga) Yoga- Excellent for all levels. This type of yoga was designed to create alignment in the body and in the spirit. Focus will be on alignment with the poses being held a little longer than in a typical Vinyasa flow class...holding asanas for longer works the muscles and tissues, increasing strength and flexibility.
Be sure to bring a mat or towel with you to classes, a water bottle, a friend and a smile! Donations accepted.
