What we're about

We are a fun group of people who love the outdoors. You'll find us hiking, kayaking, or on skis or snowshoes. Hiking is a year-round activity for us, centered on the Carson Pass region in the summer, and nestling into the Sierra Foothills in the winter. Socializing is important to us, with potlucks and themed dinners. Hikes are sometimes followed with optional restaurant stops.

Social Distancing Tai Chi

Detert Park

In the times we are in, it is important to be aware of social distancing. It is also important to the health of your immune system to stay active and not become sedentary. With these thoughts in mind, I am offering a free tai chi movement class at Detert Park in Jackson every Tuesday, Thursday , and Saturday from 9 to 10am.
The benefits of tai chi are numerous from balancing, breathing, and keeping your body supple and elastic. The calming effect and balancing of spiritual health thru tai chi is also of great help in starting your day with a calm and positive attitude. Moreover, tai chi can help expand your diaphragm which is directly associated with lung health, so important in these times. These classes are open to anyone wishing to experience a different form of movement and want to keep their body and internal energy healthy.

Let's Hike - - Calaveras Big Trees SP in the Spring

Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Shall we enjoy a LEISURELY journey thru the beauty that is Calaveras Big Trees in the Spring?

• WHAT WE'LL DO:

We will begin our hike at the South Grove Trail head. We'll wander thru the forest and skirt a meadow before crossing the footbridge at Beaver Creek. We will then begin our loop thru the mixed conifer forest and impressive giant sequoia trees. Spring among the "Big Trees" is truly awe inspiring. And, honestly, I can never decide what season is my favorite; Spring or Fall?

The hike will be approximately 5 miles in distance with 750 +/- feet of climbing.

I want to emphasize that our pace will be leisurely. My intent is to enjoy the journey!

The Calaveras Big Trees web-site has a wonderful trail guide for the South Grove.

• MEET-UP LOCATION:

We will meet at the South Grove Trail head.

• WHAT TO BRING:

A positive, happy attitude! My top essential!!

Water, munchies/lunch, sturdy trail shoes or boots, trekking poles (highly recommended ), sunscreen, rain gear (just in case), a map and WATER.
