Red Lake is a small 30 ac. body of water located on Hwy 88 approx. 1 mile east of the Carson Pass. It has easy fishing access with Brook, Rainbow and Lahontan Cutthroat trout. It is best fished from a float tube or kayak. Most use a 4 or 5 wt. fly rod with a sink tip, intermediate line or a floating line with nymphs under an indicator. There is some dry fly fishing as well.
We will be meeting at 8 AM in the small paved parking lot off of hwy 88.
There are no stores in the immediate area so bring your lunch and beverages. Be advised that there are no restroom facilities at the Lake.
As with all high sierra lakes, the weather can be unpredictable. It is not uncommon for a thunder storm to pass through even during the summer months. Have clothing available for all conditions. The wind can also be a factor. Lets hope that it cooperates for the outing. I look forward to fishing with you all.
