I definitely want to learn!
I actually made some effort earlier to make a trip to the northern regions of Italy happen. I contacted a diocese (a friends mother's family still in Italy. It was quite the run around) to see if I might work out a deal to come live there, either on the grounds or with a family or at the parish whatever could be arranged, in exchange for teaching English. Some letters were exchanged, but with no practical Italian language skills, the idea was put onto a back burner. Still, they had an interest, which is promising.
I am at a time in my life when my duty to others is coming to a close. There is now time for me, and I want to make the MOST of it. I like a wide range of people and activities and believe every person you meet has a story to tell, or something to teach you. Something that you may truly need to learn, even if you don't know it yet. Good conversation, good wine, shared with good friends... It's a win, win, Win situation.
Much as many others, I have long wanted to travel to Italy. My "nest" is almost empty and the time is rapidly approaching when I just might be able to make this happen. But I don't want a 10 day cruise or a sight seeing trip, I'm thinking 2 years.
What an incredible group of people! Engaged and engaging. I felt like I had found my home.
