Do you speak or want to learn Italian ?

I speak very little Italian, but, mostly due to the kindness of most Italians manage to get by when I am in Italy. On my most recent trip to Rome (I just returned 11/8/11) I joined a Meet Up group, "Expats Living In Rome", which is hosted by a creative, energetic, slightly eccentric Romana who has developed a wonderful concept including both Italian and English language classes as well as regular social language exchange following the classes so that you can try to actually use what you have just been taught. That is the only formal Italian study that I have experienced! I do want to learn to speak Italian as I will continue to travel to Italy on a regular basis probably for the rest of my life.

Ever lived, been or want to visit Italy ?

Yes and yes! Over the past 17 years I have traveled fairly extensively through much of Italy north of Rome. Since 2007 I have spent most of my time in Rome and am finally getting to the point that I can say that I am getting to know my way around the city. Actually quite a daunting task!!

Want to meet a very eclectic fun group of "Dolce Vita" lovers ?

Why do you want to meet this crazy, fun, food loving group ?

My daughter asserts that I am more Italian than many Italians!! I love the culture, food and general attitude of most Italians. They look at life a little differently than most and in general are kind, outgoing and inclusive. I am still trying to pick up my life after losing my husband. His culture was a huge part of our life that I find sorely missing. After having such a blast with the Expat Group in Rome I decided that I really needed to find something here in Florida to plug into for when I am at home. I travel a lot because my daughter also lives out of state and I have other business out of the country, but I'm hoping that I will find a contribution to an aspect of my life that I miss so much by joining this group.

Hi, I'm Martha. My husband was a Romano. We were together for 35 years before I lost him to liver cancer in Dec. of '06. We had 3 Italian restaurants in the Orlando area over 20 years. I travel to our home near the Borgese Gard in Rome regularly.

What Martha C. is saying about this Meetup Group

This was my first opportunity to join the group. I usually find it difficult to break into a new social situation but I was greeted and welcomed so warmly by Nancy and Ed and Romeo that I was immediately put at ease. Everyone I spoke with was so welcoming. I am definitely looking forward to future occasions with the group.
