A Victorian Christmas Evening

On Thursday 8th of December, the English Reformed Church Amsterdam will hold our annual Mulanje Mission Hospital fundraising event. This year we are pleased to feature master storyteller Ashley Ramsden recounting Charles Dickens’ ‘’A Christmas Carol’’.

Ashley Ramsden will be recounting ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. Ramsden is an internationally acclaimed storyteller with 25 years of experience  perfecting the performance of this time-honoured tale. He will bring all the well-known characters to life through his simple stage performance in our beautiful church setting. The church will open from 6.00pm so that people may enjoy some Christmas cheer, carol singing, a small market with food, drinks, and crafts. The Christmas Carol performance will begin at 7.30pm and this will be followed by a Christmas raffle and the evening will come to a close at 10.00pm.

This year the funds we are raising will go toward improving laboratory services at the hospital, including the purchase of new equipment. Our contribution will be combined with support from Wilde Ganzen and the Rotary Club International Amsterdam.

You are welcome to make an extra donation in addition to, or in lieu of, buying a ticket to the evening.

Was a wonderful evening, the man is a natural born story teller. Some lovely Christmas carols in-between ... and the glühwein (with a very generous shot of brandy !!!!) was yummy. Had my first mince pie of the season.

There are tickets available - you can go here and buy them -- or at the door.

Hi, tickets no longer seem available. Does anyone know if this is sold out in a strict sense, or if one can just come along tomorrow?

Unfortunately, I'm the opposite - would prefer a 6 pm start and an earlier finish.

Hey, would like to come but won't be able to get there at 6 pm. Would that be a problem?

Hello - no problem at all. From 6 to 7:30 it is more like a market and music. The actual performance is at 7:30, so you should be there by 7:15 or 7:20 latest. Hope that will work!
