"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated" (misquote from Mark Twain)
In other words: The Amsterdam UX Cocktail Hours are not dead! :-)
This month, on April 22, there will be another edition of this series of social events for UX practitioners that has been going strong (well, mostly) since 2001.
Our host (and my employer) for the evening is SDL (http://www.sdl.com), probably best known for their content management system Tridion, or their e-commerce optimization tool Fredhopper, or possibly one of their other 20-odd software products, all aimed at helping enterprise-scale companies put the right content online for the right audience in the right language.
And it is the enterprise-scale that will be the theme of the evening. I have found two excellent thinkers willing to share their ideas around designing for the enterprise: Peter Bogaards, CX/UX evangelist, editor and coach at Informaat, and Erik Roscam Abbing, Design Thinker and Service Designer at Zilver Innovation. Depending on how the preparations go, they will each present their view on the topic briefly and/or we will have an interview/panel style discussion.
As a bonus, I hope to have Paul Bryan on stage briefly. He is the man behind the UX STRAT workshop and conferences, and co-author of the book "Experience Strategy: A Practical Approach for User Experience Leaders". At the very least, he will be able to tell you more about the upcoming UX STRAT Europe event (http://uxstrat.com/europe/) and maybe more about how UX is becoming more and more linked with business strategies.
But of course there will also be room to socialize! Door will open around 18:00 and the talks will start around 19:00, and there will be a break. By 21:30 you will be asked to leave. Some snacks and drinks will be served.
The RSVP procedure starts on Thursday, April 9, at 11:45! SDL has room for approximately 50 guests. Please check your calendar if you can really make it on Wednesday, April 22 before reserving a spot, and release the spot if you realize you can't make it after all.
I hope to see many of you in 2 weeks! If you have any questions or comments in the meantime, don't hesitate to contact me at [masked].
