"The goal of yoga science is to calm the mind, that without distortion it may hear the infallible counsel of the inner voice."- Paramhansa Yogananda
Ancient yogic teachings of India say that the "state of yoga" brings one face to face with one's deepest reality: the Self-illumined spirit- and that everything else is fleeting. Yogis found that viveka "discernment" of practicing neti neti- "not this, not that" with meditation is needed to get beyond the layers of the five senses to deep to one's soul calling- not just the endless toying of ideas of one's mind.
This week, we will focus on how meditation can help us choose wisely in our lives- to feel calm and centered, regardless of outer circumstances. While ancient yoga teaches that calmness from discrimination always proceed wisdom- our weekly meetings provide the tools to put that into actual daily use. You also don't have to have prior meditation experience or be a yogi to benefit from this meeting!
All spiritual affiliations or none are welcome and no experience is required! This meetup is part of a series of ongoing weekly meditation group meetings at this location. We are a non-profit group but donations are always welcome! (suggested donation of 5-10 dollars but nobody turned away for lack of funds)
