Worldwide Demo for Taiji Dolphins - Japan Dolphins Day 2013

Yearly protest to save migrating Dolphins from the horrible massacre known as the TAIJI DRIVE HUNT that occurs every year in Taiji Japan starting Sept 1 and runs through Feb (6 months).

We need to call attention to the plight of the dolphins by holding this very visual protest.

Handouts will be available as well as posters/signs too. Please feel free to make your own personalized posters. The more the merrier.

Please come out and show your support. Last year we had more than 90 protesters attend. It was awesome!!! Thank You. See you there.!!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DAY OF PROTEST

We will begin staging the protest at Skyline Park # 3 (on east side of 17th at Arapahoe, near the huge Chase Bank building) at
11:15 to pick up posters and assign leaflet people.

We will take the group picture at that time. Once we have finished staging and photo session, we will walk, in unison, over to the Japanese Consulate, one block away! So try to get there by 11:15 so you can be included in the group
photo! If you can’t get there by then, we’ll see you over at the Consulate!

Remember, meter parking is 4 quarters for an hour, so bring change! Some parking there is 2 hour and some is 3 hour. Make sure you read meter to make sure you are at the right kind of meter for your day! I once fed 3 hours of
money into 2 hour meter. DUH!

If you can carpool, that would be best solution. There are parking garages very close to event site, but a little pricey, they are mostly there on Lawrence!

Also, if you can bring a camera for photos to be included on our web page, that would be super!

See you there on Friday, Aug 30.

Thank you all so much for coming out for the dolphins. It was an awesome protest with a great group of people who cared enough about animals, including the dolphins and whales, to come out on a very hot day and stand there for two hours in the intense heat. Now...that is dedication. It was thrilling to have special guest, Louis Psihoyos, the director of the Cove, with Candace Crespi, both from OPS, who attended the protest. Thanks, all you great Animal warriors! I would especially like to thank special helpers, Beate Dietrich, Megan Franke, Alex Rice, Shannon Murphy, Olivier Fox Renard; photographer, Kimito Sakata, and of course, as always, Ann and Peter S. for their continuing graphics support and AAN, Vegan Life and The Mercury Cafe' as well. BTW: There is another dolphin protest set for Friday, Sept 13th, same time, same place. "RETURN TO TAIJI, A JAPAN DOLPHINS PROTEST #2. Be There!! Peace and Light! Heather

I really wanted to be there yesterday, but family responsibilities popped up at the last minute. Even though I was unable to attend the protest, I'll still be sending a fax message to the Japanese Consulate. I was there with those who attended in spirit!

Thanks for setting up the protest. I think it was very successful and hope in the near future outrage for the dolphins and pressure from groups like us will stop the Japanese from this terrible slaughter.

A global ethical community of empowered human beings is where we are headed. Eventually, this planet will be part of a larger galactic community. Most of you will see this in your lifetime. — at Japanese Embassy.

I have sent faxes to this consulate each year since I first saw "The Cove." If my chronic bad back will let me do so, I look forward to sending the same message there in person for the first time. It will be my 56th birthday, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate it!

The killing of dolphins and ALL cetacean species must be stopped!

"Keep moving" rule? I assume this means I wouldn't be able to sit down (stationary) while others are moving? If I have to use your wheelchair while I'm there, I will do so. Might have to figure out just how to work this out. All this is virgin territory for me :)

Actually, as long as its a portable chair and is off the main walk way, you can sit. It can't be attached to anything. I had leg surgery once and needed a chair. I just sat off to the side so I wasn't on the sidewalk.
