There is a CO bill coming up for hearing this Monday which we will oppose.  This is House Bill 1125.  It is a terrible bill which says that no livestock may be impounded unless a veterinarian has first examined the animal in question and states in writing that the impoundment is necessary to preserve the life of the animal

The main thing to recognize is that this bill will make it very difficult to impound animals in distress. In rural parts of the state the vet would have to travel a long distance to make the examination, meaning large vet bills, and consequently the animal control agencies, already cash-strapped, will not choose to summon a vet. Result: no impound and the animal will continue to suffer.

The bill is scheduled for a hearing before the House Agriculture Committee at 1:30 this coming Monday (02/18) in room 0107.  That room is in the basement of the Capitol Building.   It would be helpful for people to either show up at the committee hearing or write letters to their representatives in opposition.
