Fwd: IMPORTANT INFO if you are attending the Commissioners Meeting on Tues, 6/18

From: Andrea B.
Sent on: Monday, June 17, 2013 11:42 PM
If you are planning to attend the meeting Tues, below is some info you need.  Please let me know if you plan to attend and if you plan to speak or not.

Please arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes ahead of time.  If you are speaking or donating time, you need to fill out a yellow card.  You get the cards from the lady at the front table closest to the door.  She'll be sitting there with a laptop on the desk (if memory serves) and she can be grumpy.  Have a pen with you.  On the card write your name and address (if not from Pinellas try to find a Pinellas address to use, but not essential).  It will ask the topic you're speaking on or donating time for.  Put "Support of Mandatory Spay / Neuter".  I don't recall if the yellow card itself asks you to put down who you are donating time to.  If not, put on there anyway, "Donating my time to XXX" and we'll collect your card and provide to that person.

Board of County Commissioners @ 315 Court Street, Clearwater  33756 on the 5th Floor.  Phones:  (727)[masked]. (The room is straight ahead of you, through the doors at the end of the hall when you come off the elevators).

There are several parking lots around the Courthouse and some with free 4 hour parking, but have a fist full of quarters handy just in case you don't get lucky with that.  Map is:,-82.800436&spn=0.00344,0.004302&z=18.

The meeting begins at 2 pm.  We are speaking during the "Citizens to be Heard" Section.  Plan on being there for up to 1.5 hours.  Here's the order of events:  Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Presentations & Awards, Citizens to be Heard then Agenda Items. The last thing under Presentations (before we are called) may last a few minutes so be prepared: Agenda is here:

Thank you!!!

Subject: Commissioners Meeting on Tues, 6/18 - Please email, call and attend!! Do YOUR part to stop overpopulation of animals at the SOURCE!

Hi Animal Lovers,

We NEED you to STEP UP & SPEAK UP to stop the endless killing of perfectly healthy animals, simply because there aren't enough homes!  Time to stop whining and crying over all the innocent animals getting killed at shelters, and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!  We can kill ourselves trying to find homes for all the animals out there dumped by asshole owners, knowing full well we NEVER will.  OR we can stop the breeding of these unwanted animals!

On Tuesday, June 18th, there is a public meeting with the Pinellas County Board of Commissioners at 2 pm at the Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court Street, 5th Floor Assembly Room, Clearwater, FL.  We are asking for Mandatory Spay and Neuter laws to be put in place, to stop the irresponsible, endless backyard breeding that leads to thousands of animals being needlessly killed every month in this county.  (Reputable, licensed, responsible breeders will still be legal.)

Mandatory spay and neuter has been proven to work in other communities to reduce the pet overpopulation problem and decrease the number of homeless and euthanized animals each year.

Attendees are invited to listen and learn or speak on this very important matter during the "Citizens to be Heard" portion.  (Must fill out a yellow card before meeting begins.)

We NEED a large turn out in support of this mission. We have the commissioners' attention right now.  If we do no seize this opportunity, we only have ourselves to blame for the millions of animals that continue to die in the future because we wouldn't speak up to stop the leak of litter after litter after litter of unwanted animals.

If you have to take vacation time,,, IT'S WORTH IT!  If you don't feel comfortable speaking,,, IT'S A LOT LESS TERRIFYING AND PAINFUL THAN WHAT THE ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING EVERY DAY!   Both of these apply to me.  But aren't these sacrifices you're willing to make if it means preventing pain, suffering and killing of the animals we all claim are so important to us???

Please come. Please go out of your comfort zone and speak.

Let me know if you can come.  We can give you a topic and notes to use to speak if you want.  Please arrive early  - 1:45 as not to interrupt the sessions taking place.  Metered parking - bring coins!

Also, please send an email to the commissioners on this topic, before Tuesday if possible.  I will be sending another email this week with content you can copy and paste or to give you ideas on what to email them or say at the meeting.

Thank you!
