Ann Arbor Blues Jam (& Clinic)!

  • Bring your love of the blues, an instrument, and a music stand (if you want one) and we'll do the rest.

The jam is open to electric instruments, but acoustic instruments are encouraged as well.

Our first sessions were really well-received,  but we've learned a thing or two in the process.  So we're going to modify  the format a little.

As you know, we've been incredibly fortunate to have some really talented professional musicians help lead the clinic and front the band so we could all jam along and learn in the process.  I'd like to continue that.

At the beginning of each session, John and Everett are going to go over some fundamental skills or concepts we'd like to incorporate into our jam, and materials will be posted online in advance of the jam so you can all get up to speed.

But rather than have everyone jam along on the rhythm parts the whole song, we're going to call up a small group (maybe 3 or so) to play with John and Everett.  This way, we can focus on learning to play together as a group, listening, and building on the clinical aspect of the jam.

Along those same lines, John and Everett travel a long way to be there, and put in a fair bit of time before the Jams to prepare.  I think they add significant value to the experience, and it would be appropriate to compensate them for their efforts as we move forward.   Therefore, I'm reluctantly increasing the cost of the jam to $10 per person.

Remember, the idea with this jam is to inclusive, and supportive, but most of all to have fun!
