James Joyce's "Ulysses"

I asked you what extra-long classic book we should read and you all overwhelmingly voted for James Joyce's "Ulysses". I asked you when we should read it, you chose a Sunday in November. I asked you if this discussion should be special and stand-out from the rest, you said "yes", but that you weren't quite sure how. Please note that I am informing you all of this epic literary assignment a good 5 months in advance, so you have no excuse to miss this undertaking! To help us better appreciate the plot, I am setting up a discussion of Homer (Odyssey and Iliad) on August 25th. I will also be setting up a "Ulysses" after party with dinner and drinks immediately following discussion. If you have any great ideas for places to host the after party (walking distance from our Borders please), let me know! We can do this!

Here's a couple of good sites I've found for Ulysses:

The Internet Ulysses by James Joyce--this does a great job at explaining most of the references:

This one is author Frank Delaney's podcast about the book--he's in the process of creating them right now as we're reading it ourselves.

i'm in for appetizers (since i don't drink) -- but we definitely need some irish atmosphere to top this off.

Are people still into going for a couple of drinks at Connor O'Neill's after the big discussion?
