Ann Arbor Classics Book Group - Fall 2012 Update (

From: Rebecca

I would like to welcome all old and new members to the Ann Arbor Classics Book Group. I look forward to having great discussions on some great books with all of you in the coming months.

We've got three more meetups in 2012: 9/16 The Jungle; 10/14 Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, followed by a Book Swap; 11/11 A Christmas Carol. We will be voting online for 2013 selections starting in September. Please make reading selection suggestions at: Most of our selections come from Boxall’s “1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die.”

As some of you have noticed, changes have occurred with the AACBG since we lost the Downtown Borders location in the summer of 2011. Our trial with Barnes and Noble did not work out and we had to find a free location that could accommodate up to 20 or more people. We are currently meeting at the Michigan Union ground floor at the tables by Pizza Hut. I hope to try some alternative locations in 2013, but for now this location meets our needs. Parking is free on Sundays and there are two parking structures within walking distance of the Union.

The Organizers have also changed in the last year or so – some people moved away, others dropped out, and Emlyn resigned as the leader of the group due to the growth of her small business. In order to stop the group from being canceled, I agreed to take over as head organizer. I appreciate any input you have to make this group better. If anyone would like to help with organizing duties and/or leading discussions, please send me a message.

I look forward to discussing Classic Books with you all.
