Important Announcement from the Organizing Team - A2SB

Dear Shutterbug, Hope your new year photographic resolutions are on track! Recently there have been a few changes in the organizing team and along with it a few policy changes to bring the shutterbugs community closer and focus all the attention towards photography. Our organizer Joshua Chamberlain has moved to Columbus for family & work related reasons and has stepped down from the organizer position. We would like to thank Joshua for all his efforts in running a successful community and making Shutterbugs the group it is today. Kiran Bhat and Frank Kaelin will be sharing the organizing responsibility as organizer and co-organizer respectively along with event organizers Patrick and Lynette. We invite members who are passionate about photography and are interested in hosting events to contact the organizing team to help organize new and interesting events.

One major change that you will notice is that Photo Studio Group that has sponsored the bugs will part ways due to change in their business priorities. This leaves us with no sponsors and we at the organizing team think it is the perfect time to switch to a complete not for profit model and stay focused on photography without any distracting business pressures. This also means that we will depend on the generosity of our members to cover the administrative costs of running the group, please donate to the group where possible. To donate money, Click on “Donate” box, located below “Our Calendar”. To the members who have already donated, “A big thank you”.

Last but not least, several members have complained that they were waitlisted for an event because some members always RSVP “Yes” to spot limited events as a place holder but do not actually show up at the events. To tackle this absentee problem, we have decided to allow 3 “No shows” per person and after 3 “No shows”, the member will be removed from the group. This means that if you RSVP “Yes” for an event, please make sure you plan to attend it or change your RSVP to “No” if you can’ make it. 3 occurrences of “No Show” and we will be removing you from the group. We hope this will increase the attendance percentages at our events and give more people a chance to participate in spot limited events. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
