What we're about

This group is a place for moms (expecting, new, and veterans too!) who are striving to live in ways that have a positive impact on their families, communities, and the environment as a whole.

Our members live in and our meetup locations are based in the Annapolis area (including Davidsonville, Pasadena, Severn, Crofton, Severna Park, Odenton, Bowie, and Upper Marlboro). We meet at parks, the library, and in each other’s homes, as well as other locations.

As a group, we represent a vast spectrum of practices and ideals. Our members may practice, or be interested in learning more about, one or many of the following:

attachment parenting (breastfeeding/co-sleeping/babywearing/positive discipline)
cloth-diapering/EC
plant-based diets (vegans, vegetarians, enlightened omnivores and mindful eaters)
natural birthing
sustainable and simple living (resource conservation, buying local, recycling, composting, etc)
homeschooling
Non-Violent Communication (compassionate communication)

We will organize events where we can both learn from and lend support to each other.
What we'll be up to:

•play dates at local parks/homes/etc.
•meeting at some of the arts/cultural events that are always going on around here
•book discussions
•movie nights
•volunteering
•pot-lucks
•trips to fun/educational spots with the kiddos
•you name it!

Please read the policies below, answer all of the profile questions, submit an active email address, and post a picture of yourself to be approved for membership.

The only criteria for joining are that you have an open heart and mind, you can make a commitment to participate in our group's meetups, and you will interact on the message board!

Membership dues are $6 a year due in June if you join between January and June or in December if you join between July and December.

We have one rule: If you RSVP “Yes” at a meetup and find that you cannot attend, please change your RSVP to “No” and contact the host in whatever way is specified in the description. If no method is described, use meetup to send an email to the host or post a comment stating that you cannot attend. Please try to contact the host before an event, especially if moms are meeting at a specific time for an event and will be waiting for you, during or within one week after the event if it is not possible to contact the host beforehand. If you do not contact the host, you will be marked as a “No Show” for the meetup. Any member who is a “No Show” for 2 meetups will be bumped out of the group.
